Getting Around Ayamonte
Car Hire & Transport






So now you are here what do you fancy doing, where would you like to visit? If you're a sun worshipping beach bum who occasionally has a saunter around town, you really won't need a car. However, if you intend to play golf every morning and go sightseeing every afternoon the car will be essential.

To discover Ayamonte and the surrounding area you have a number of options. Whether you opt for car hire or simply use public transport will depend to some extent on where you are based.

Nowadays with the package holiday on the decline and the arrival of the cheap airlines a lot of people are opting for tailor-made holidays and breaks. With so many visitors to Ayamonte staying in private accommodation on Isla Canela and now Costa Esuri this is especially true.

If you are staying at Costa Esuri, a car is a practical necessity. There is at the moment no public transport available to and from Esuri. With no shopping facillities and very limited options for eating out or enjoying a drink, visiting Ayamonte or Isla Canela is essential.

The Town Circular Bus will eventually, when there is sufficient demand, run a service to Costa Esuri. Without a car your options are limited to Taxi services. Alternatively for the fit and healthy there is the option to Hire a Bike or there is always gods own free taxi - walking.

Isla Canela does have shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. There is also a bus service that runs to Ayamonte which is available all year round. A car, although not essential, does widen your options.

If you are staying in Ayamonte it is reasonably easy to manage without a car and see the town on foot. Or you can catch the Ferry to Portugal and visit Vila Real San Antonio. There are also a number of Guadiana Boat Trips, Tours & Excursions available.

There is no train station in Ayamonte but there are Train Services available from nearby in Huelva and Vila Real San Antonio in Portugal.

For those staying further afield in Villablanca or Sanlucar de Guadiana, unless you are visiting for a purely rural holiday, a car is essential to get around.
