Iglesia de las Angustias is situated in the centre of town close to the ferry and just off the Plaza de la Laguna. This striking fifteenth century church with its' distinctive brick tower provides stunning views to Portugal. It is a particular sight to behold on the Thursday evening of the September Las Anguistias fiesta. The steps leading up to the church are adorned with white flowers laid by women and girls dressed in traditional flamenco dresses.

The parish church of El Salvador (pictured) just below the Parador in the La Villa district is another historical location. This church dates back to the thirteenth century and has managed to survive a number of earthquakes, the 1755 one in particular. The high steeple provides views probably unmatched in the town.

One more church worthy of note is Iglesia de San Francisco located on the plaza of the same name and also known as Templo de San Francisco. This sixteenth century church has a stunning artesonado ceiling and has been declared a National Historic Artistic Monument.

Located within the church is Casa Museo Soledad with a number of artistic and religious artefacts on display.

Casa Grande is a magnificent building situated on Calle Huelva and dates back to 1745. The building has been fully restored and is now a cultural centre housing a number of exhibits by local artists. The municipal library is also housed here. The Tourist Information office is situated 50 metres along the road towards the centre. After all this culture be sure to call in at the chilled out Piano Bar across the road and and have an ice cold beer or relaxing glass of red.
