Seville Airport to Ayamonte
Directions
Leave the airport following the exit (salida) signs. Follow the signs for 'Sevilla, Cordoba' the road merges into the N-IV signposted 'E-5 Sevilla'. Take the first exit signposted 'Ronda Norte, Huelva'. This takes you onto ring road to the north of the city. Most of the route planners (AA, Rac etc) and Sat Navs do not follow this route but take you through the city. From experience I have found this way to be quicker even if slightly longer.
This road is currently being widened and renewed so it is difficult to give precise directions as there are temporary roundabouts etc. Once you are on the Ronda Norte keep going straight at any lights or roundabouts you come to. After 8-10km you will pass the Stadio Olimpico on your left. Shortly after the stadium you will see signs for 'SE-30, Huelva'. Join the SE-30.
A word of warning, if you see signs for Portugal/Merida do not follow them. This takes you north and crosses over to Portugal near Badajoz, miles and miles from Ayamonte.
Join the SE-30/A-66 and follow signs for Huelva A-49 E-1 until you reach junction 17B. At 17B change from the A-66 SE-30 onto the A-49 signposted 'Huelva, E-1, A-49, Camas'
The E-1/A-49 are the same road, this will now take you all the way to Ayamonte. Just be aware when you get near Huelva the motorway forks. Stay in the right fork heading towards Portugal.
After 130 kilometres take Junction 131 signposted Ayamonte Norte. In fact it is 131 kilometres exactly and hence the Junction number 131. At the bottom of the slip road take the first exit if you are going to Costa Esuri. Costa Esuri is just a few kilometres along that road.
For Ayamonte and Isla Canela go under the motorway and take the third exit. Drive along and after a few hundred yards you come to a roundabout, the first exit isn’t open yet, take the second exit. Drive up the hill to the next roundabout and take the third exit signposted Centro Urbano. You have now arrived in Ayamonte.
To go to Isla Canela drive down the hill to the next roundabout and go straight on. At the next roundabout go straight again, at this roundabout you will see a shopping centre on your left. Carry on down the hill and you will come to yet another roundabout, go straight on.
Continue on to the bottom of the road, you will pass the Dia supermarket on your left just before you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout take the first exit to turn right. Continue on to the next roundabout and take the second exit.
After half a kilometre you will see the Hotel Don Diego on your right just before the roundabout. If you are not dizzy with all the roundabouts yet, take the second exit at this roundabout.
Drive straight for a couple of kilometres, passing through three roundabouts, going straight on at each. After the second roundabout you will see the athletics stadium on your right and after the third the football stadium on your left.
Cross the bridge and you are now on Isla Canela. To go to the golf course area take the left turn, second exit, at the third roundabout.
For Punta del Moral, the marina, and Playa Isla Canela areas go to the fourth roundabout after crossing the bridge. The first exit leads to building site, take the second exit for Playa Isla Canela and the third for Punta del Moral and the marina.
When your head has stopped spinning, from the endless roundabouts you have driven through, nip down to the bar and have a chilled beer!
